DAY 1: LOVE TOUR

Gene tweeted this morning: “If love is all you need, then why do we have so much baggage?”

So here’s the reality of bus travel, an eight-hour run from Ottawa to Sudbury with only one rest stop—only 15 minutes to pee, buy a sandwich and do an interview about love. Okay, we didn’t do the interview then. But we did have a very eager interview subject named Marcella Loyer on the bus. Our fellow passengers seemed interested, though some just had the glazed-over look of long-distance bus riders.

Grey and rainy all the way and definitely chillier. But we’re ready for the northern Ontario elements, especially with the warm welcome from our couch surfing host in Sudbury, Charles Ramcharan, That's him in the picture below.

Charles introduced us to the Laughing Buddha, one of Sudbury's most popular eateries and then gave us a candid interview about his experience with love and loss.

Great start Gene Catherine. Keep it going. Say hello to the giant nickle for me.

You write ... Gene tweeted this morning: “If love is all you need, then why do we have so much baggage?” I checked all of Gene's tweets and didn't find that one. Are you sure he tweeted that? Keep your blog posts coming. Michael

Today, on the nine-hour bus ride to Regina, we saw the effects of the spring flooding on the Prairies.
