We plan to do plenty more local interviews after we get back from the Tour (May 30). We're looking for all kinds of stories about love. Would you like to be interviewed? We'd love to hear from you! Just drop us a note at moondogtheatre@rogers.com
We're excited, we're packing, we're firming up plans with our couschsurfing hosts, tending to a gazillion details before launching our Eye for Love Tour in less than four days from now. AND we're practicing our video skills for all the interviews ahead. So here's our first go, an interview with Deneece Marion, of Gatineau, Quebec.

It couldn't have been more fantastic! The music, the energy, the joy. A HUGE thank you to Jerry Golland, of Tower of Song, who organized the entire concert. That's him on the right, with Ric Kersey (left) and Peter Pelletier. (Photo by Michael Davidson) It's totally amazing how all the performers gave so generously of their time and talent. This is part of what they do on a regular basis for other fundraisers all over the region. You all rock!

As we prepare for the Love Tour, a few people have asked us, "How do you define love?" The answer? We don't. As writers, we believe in the power of stories. Not grandiose statements or wisdom from on high or happily-ever-after scenarios. Just an honest telling of your experience and how it affected you...
How a gesture or a kind act touched you to your core. Or how a passionate relationship transformed you, made you into something bigger. How your parents' love inspired you to make a difference in someone else's life or in many other people's lives. Or how you coped with the loss of someone you loved. What love has taught you about human nature, about life. How loving and being loved (or not being loved) has made you see yourself...The story tells it all. We find our personal truth, what matters to us, in the stories we tell. The Eye for Love Tour is not about transforming the world with fuzzy warm feelings (though those can be nice!). It's a snapshot. What does love really look like for you, how does it show up in your life? Right now. Maybe it was different in the past and it will surely be different in the future. But what do you take from love at this time in your life? We're hungry for stories, and we're open to the unexpected. Bring it on! Come on out to hear the very cool Judy Jibb, a member of Tower of Song--one of the featured groups for our April 19 Benefit Concert.
Judy returned to Ottawa in 2001 after a number of decades in the far north. She misses the Yukon’s extraordinary aurora borealis but is well compensated by the luminous, shimmering music and musicians she accompanies on accordion, and she has a fleet! Judy has been known to restore vintage squeeze boxes and then have great difficulty letting them go. Judy shares Jerry Golland’s deep connection to Cohen and Dylan. She is also one of the Elementals with the brilliant Julie Element. Our concert is just one week away. At our April 19 concert, Rqymundo Pizana will be joined by Tohyd Beigi. Together they form Souljourney. All this great music, less than a week away!
On May 1, we'll be on a Greyhound bus headed to Sudbury, the first leg of our Eye for Love Tour to gather stories about love from across Canada. Notice Gene's cool T-shirt with our official logo and our nifty and discreet camcorder that will capture the stories of anyone willing to share.
But first, we have our Benefit Concert on Saturday, April 19--which is guaranteed to be a pleasure-packed evening! It's still not too late to donate items for our raffle. Contact us at moondogtheatre@rogers.com. |
